Transport API Limits and Failover System
Every departure board license includes a dedicated Transport API plan to handle daily requests. To keep your board running without interruption, we use a tiered failover system if you hit your daily limit:

Primary Plan: Your board operates on your included default Transport API plan.

Secondary Backup: If your primary plan reaches its daily maximum, traffic automatically redirects to our shared backup plan.

Tertiary Backup (BODS): If the shared backup limit is reached, your feed switches to open government data (Bus Open Data Service).
Upgrades and Dedicated Backup Keys
If your board frequently exhausts its allocation, you can upgrade your plan or add a personal backup key for £5/month. A personal key ensures dedicated reserve capacity before ever needing to rely on fallback data.
